The View assistant shot, 'The View' assistant called 'hero' after being shot in stomach, Lourdes Guillen, a 25-year-old assistant for female-focused talk show "The View," is being dubbed a "hero" by the show's stars after getting shot in the stomach at a deli in Brooklyn, New YorkGuillen, who is expected to recover, was reportedly shot by unknown "thugs" who were upset that her and her group's sandwich order was taking too longA production assistant on TV talk show The View was shot in the stomach during an angry stand-off in a New York deli yesterday – all because she took too long ordering her food.

Three armed thugs fired at Lourdes Guillen, 25, as she tried to protect her cousin, Juan Medina, 24 – who had already been shot twice.

Hosts from the TV show have praised Guillen, who still has a bullet lodged in her stomach, as a hero.

This weekend, a member of our “View” family almost paid the ultimate price for her act of heroism,’ said Whoopi Goldberg.

The incident took place at a 24 hour bodega in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood at 5am on Sunday morning.

Miss Guillen, who works behind the scenes on the hit daytime show, had been celebrating Mr Medina’s last day in the city with a third cousin, Ramali Rodriquez.

The men began hasseling the trio after deciding they were taking too much time ordering their food.

One began fighting with Mr Medina , who is visiting the city from his home in the Dominican Republic, and then pulled out a gun and opened fire – hitting him twice in the stomach.

Doctors at Manhattan’s Bellevue hospital say she is in stable condition, her cousin, Mr Medina is in critical condition after undergoing a four hour operation.

View panelist Barbara Walters said she had spoken to Guillen this morning and that Guillen had told her that would step in front of her cousin again.

‘Lourdes bravely stepped between them and pleaded with the gunman to stop the violence. He responded by shooting her in the stomach,’ Walters said.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck added that Guillen had applied pressure to her cousin’s wounds and said she believe Guillen’s decision to put herself in the line of fire ‘saved both their lives.’
25 year-old Lourdes Guillen was with her cousins Ramali Rodriguez and 24 year-old Juan Medina (who was celebrating his last in town he was flying to Dominican republic the following day) at a deli on Humboldt Street when three men in her 20’s began to hassled them for taking to long placing their order at the sandwich deli, the argument escalated but Lourdes was relief when the men left, not for long though
The men came back and hit Ramirez with a cane on the head, shot twice at Medina and then to Lourdes, but not without her trying to negotiate with the thugs who left the scene leaving Lourdes and her cousins on the ground.
“Put the gun down. Don’t be that person. I knew that if my cousin got shot again, he would die. I couldn’t let that happen. I had to do something.“I was trying to talk him out of it, because if he saw I was a woman, he would stop. But clearly, that didn’t faze him at all,”
“You’re on my block now. Don’t think I won’t shoot you too, b—h!” the man told Guillen before hitting her with one bullet.
“I fell down against a car next to my cousin,’’ she said. “I wasn’t bleeding. It wasn’t painful. It was just obstructing my breathing. We held hands and hung in there until the ambulance came.
“I told my [other] cousin to put pressure on Juan’s wound because he was bleeding,” Lourdes recalled.
Lourdes is in stable condition, although the bullet is still in her stomach as for her cousin Jose, he underwent a four hour operation and remains in critical but stable condition.

Dang who order sandwiches at 5 in the morning on a Sunday? A production assistant on TV talk show The View was shot in the stomach during an angry stand-off in a New York deli yesterday Sunday. According to an eye witness she took too long ordering her food and couldn’t decide what she wanted to eat.

Three armed thugs fired at Lourdes Guilin, 25, as she tried to protect her cousin, Juan Medina, 24 – who had already been shot twice.

Hosts from the TV show have praised Guillen, who still has a bullet lodged in her stomach, as a hero, and thank god she’s alive. Miss Guillen pleaded with the shooter to stop, later telling the New York Post: ‘I knew that if my cousin got shot again, he would die. I couldn’t let that happen. I had to do something.

I was trying to talk him out of it, because if he saw I was a woman, he would stop. But clearly, that didn’t faze him at all he just kept firing.’
Lourdes Guillen and her cousin Juan Medina were both shot at a New York deli yesterday after allegedly taking too long with their order.

Guillen, who worked for “Good Morning America” and Anderson Cooper before becoming a production assistant on “The View,” says she and her cousin were celebrating his last day in the city when the late-night altercation occurred.

When asked to describe exactly what happened, Guillen said that three men in their twenties started fighting with her group, impatient with the waiting, before one of the men asked why Medina’s arms were crossed over his chest.

Guillen responded that her cousin was just a little cold, since he is from the Dominican Republic.

“You’re on my block now,” the man retorted angrily, before departing with his group.

The trio soon returned, however, armed with a cane and a gun.

Almost immediately they attacked Medina and another of Guillen’s cousins, beating them with their fists and the cane before shooting Medina twice.

“Put the gun down. Don’t be that person,” Guillen implored, telling the New York Post, “I knew that if my cousin got shot again, he would die.”

The gunman allegedly responded, “Don’t think I won’t shoot you too, b—h!” before firing at her stomach.
