Beyonce and Jay-Z replace Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady as world's highest paid couple after raking in $78m in just one year ay-Z and Beyonce Knowles have topped Forbes magazine's World's Highest Paid Celebrity Couples list 2012.The power pair are estimated to have made $78 million together in the financial year ending May 1, moving them from second place in last year's list, behind Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, to
first.According to Forbes, Beyonce earned more in the last year than her husband, amassing $40 million from sponsorship deals, sales of her '4' album and royalties from her back catalogue.
The figure is particularly impressive as she also took time off to have the couple's first baby, daughter Blue Ivy, who was born in January.
The rapper made an estimated $38 million from his Watch the Throne album and tour with Kanye West, continuing sales of his Decoded book as well as his many business interests, which include a nightclub and Roc Nation record label, management and music publishing companyRelegated to second on the list were supermodel Gisele and NFL player Tom, who brought in an estimated $72 million, from her lucrative modelling deals and his four-year, $72 million contract extension with the New England Patriots.
He has also made a foray into modelling, signing contracts with Under Armour and UGG Boots.
Third on the list were fashion designer Victoria and soccer player David Beckham who are worth $54 million.
In fourth place are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who banked an estimated $45 million, and fifth were Will and Jada Pinkett Smith who raked in an estimated $40 millionAs the daughter of superstar parents Beyonce and Jay-Z, baby Blue Ivy Carter certainly made a big entrance, making headlines across the globe.
So naturally her exit from the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York was going to be nothing short of a sizeable operation.
Pictured here is the customised Mercedes van seen leaving the hospital at 1.30am on Tuesday morning and apparently carrying the couple and their precious cargo.The trio were said to have been followed by a cavalcade of cars through the darkness.Beyonce bought the van a couple of months ago, apparently in readiness for the birth, swapping her luxurious Maybach for the souped up motor.
In true superstar style the 30-year-old has pimped her ride to the max and spent a whopping $1 million kitting out the Mercedes vehicle.
It has an engine big enough to power a large lorry - but has the soft drive of a limousine.
The Single Ladies singer requested hand stitched Italian leather seats be installed in cream with chestnut lining.
To make sure she doesn't ever have to stop at a service station Beyoncé has a full bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet.
No doubt the couple were being transported to their luxurious Tribeca penthouse apartment in New York so they could settle into her new home.
Knowles has had a luxury nursery built which includes a $20,000 cot as its centrepiece. The Posh Tots Carriage Fantasy Crib is made of solid cedar and birch and comes complete with a rear luggage rack which doubles as a changing table.
Their departure from hospital - following Saturday's birth - comes as it had emerged that the A-list couple allegedly infuriated other new parents by enforcing a lockdown at the hospital where they had their first child together.They also had their own private security force working an area alongside hospital security already at Lenox Hill Hospital.
The extraordinary lengths for privacy led to other parents bitterly complaining that the intense measures had made other new parents miss out on precious moments with their own newborns.
The pop superstars reportedly spent over a million dollars in pricey renovations to an exclusive recovery area - including a bulletproof door for Beyonce's room.A hospital source told Us Weekly: 'A month ago, [workers] tore down six to eight rooms and turned them into two suites, adding that Beyonce and Jay-Z, 42, 'paid to have it constructed just for them'.
Meanwhile, celebrity pals have been showering Beyonce and Jay-Z's bundle of joy with gifts.
Oprah Winfrey apparently sent a trunk of her favourite children’s books, a source told the New York Daily News.Other gifts have arrived from the likes of Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Kanye West, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey, the source went on.
'Jay and Beyoncé are talking about having a small party to show close friends and family their daughter in the next week or so,' the insider said.
Beyonce's former Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland was also shopping up a storm in New York buying gifts, including a green Bob Marley babygrow and several $300 cashmere baby blankets.
