John Cena Divorce War Ends Amicably - In recent months, John Cena's toughest opponent was not a WWE wrestler. Cena was going through a very public, nasty divorce from his wife, Elizabeth Huberdeau. Accusations of infidelity were difficult for Cena as the top face (or "good guy") in the WWE. But the PR nightmare is over as the divorce has officially been settled.

At this point in the evolution of pro wrestling, I think it's safe to say that virtually all wrestling fans know that the outcomes of the matches are predetermined. Still, wrestling promotions like the WWE go to great lengths to make their characters as believable as possible. John Cena's divorce wasn't doing his WWE character any favors.
Most wrestling fans are split on John Cena, but I respect his commitment to the industry and his ability to stay on top in the WWE. I also respect how much time he devotes to entertaining the troops and helping kids in the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I was cringing when I heard his wife hired Linda Hogan's attorney at the outset of their divorce proceedings.
As a WWE fan and in particular a John Cena fan, I'm glad the divorce proceedings are over. Cena isn't perfect. I'm sure he made mistakes during his marriage. And I'm sure his wife wasn't perfect either. Divorces take place every day. Getting divorced doesn't make a wrestler a bad guy. But I was sensing a storm brewing that threatened to erupt over John Cena's head if his divorce dragged on.
John Cena has been a merchandise golden goose for the WWE. I'm virtually positive that the WWE has been so public recently with his work in the Make-A-Wish Foundation to counter the negative publicity from his divorce. Even if he had to write his ex-wife a big, fat check to end the divorce peacefully, it was the right thing to do.
In an industry that has been beset with drug problems and early deaths, John Cena has stayed out of trouble better than most. He has earned his spot atop the WWE and I'm glad his divorce didn't tear his career apart. Now that his divorce is over, I can focus on enjoying the rest of John Cena's wrestling career in the WWE.
