Romney choice vice president

Romney choice vice president, Six potential Romney running mates, Everyone wants to know: Who will Mitt Romney pick as his vice presidential candidate? This could be the real Romney choice for vice president, The conventional wisdom right now suggests Condoleezza Rice will be Romney's choice. Dick Morris recently said he thinks Romney will choose Florida Senator Marco Rubio, while Bill Kristol says it will be Rice. But Romney could really surprise everyone with this choice.

The choice would be Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Jindal, a conservative Republican and reform-oriented governor has strong support in the conservative and moderate factions of the party as well as the Tea Party movement.
Jindal is serving his second term as governor of Louisiana and regularly enjoys approval by more than 70 percent in the polls. Governor Romney himself has said a primary qualification for vice president is being qualified to become president. Many Republicans and Romney supporters believe Jindal is very well qualified, as a successful two-term governor, to be president in the future.

Jindal graduated high school in 1988 and attended Brown University, graduating with honors just three years later. He attended Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, graduating with a M.Litt. degree in political science in 1994 at age 23, writing a thesis titled “A needs-based approach to health care.“

In 1996, Governor Murphy Foster appointed Jincal to become the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, the youngest to ever hold that position at age 25. Jindal reformed the state's Medicaid program and turned a $400 million deficit into a $220 million surplus. This demonstrated Jindal's status as an expert on health care policy and a rising star in the Republican Party.

After getting elected to Congress in 2004 and 2006, Jindal ran in Louisiana's non-partisan primary for governor and won a majority of the vote in the first round, electing him as governor without a runoff election. Jindal was reelected in similar fashion in 2011.

Jindal has reformed state government in many areas, including education, health care, tax policy and corruption issues as well as demonstrating strong leadership in responding to disasters like the gulf oil spill and continued recovery from Hurricane Katrina after he became governor. As a member of Congress at the time, Jindal was very active in efforts to recover from Katrina.

Jindal, a Roman Catholic would have strong appeal to Catholics who disagree with the regulations on contraceptive policy contained in the Affordable Care Act, known commonly as Obamacare. Jindal would have strong appeal to conservative and Tea Party movement voters, social conservatives as well independent and reform-oriented voters. Jindal, the country's first Indiean-American governor, would be the first to serve as vice president.
