Lindsay Lohan Cleared in Hit-and-Run Investigation
Lindsay was in her new Porsche when she left the Sayers Club in Hollywood at just after midnight Wednesday. We’re told she was driving out of the parking lot when she was blocked by paparazzi and bystanders around the nearby Hookah Lounge. Lindsay made contact with the manager of the Hookah Lounge with her car and then peeled out. The plot thickens … Sources tell us, the club manager who Lindsay struck has gone to the emergency room and we’re told he is going to press charges and hire an attorney. Cops told us they will open a hit-and-run investigation if the manager files a report.
Once again, this is why I have a tendency to go after Lindsay pretty hard: not because I hate her or anything, but because for fuck’s sake, she should be better than this. How can someone be this stupid? I don’t care anymore, just throw the bitch in jail for all I care, because at this point, coddling her isn’t going to teach her to stop acting like such a dumbass.
The Mean Girls star has denied claims that she bumped her Porsche into a man identified as Thaer Kamal as she left The Sayers Club in mid-March, but her alleged victim checked into a hospital emergency room for treatment after initially telling cops he didn’t require medical attention.
A police investigation reportedly stalled because Lindsay Lohan, who has no obligation to co-operate with the authorities, failed to get in touch with them. Kamal, who threatened to file an incident report, has also steered clear of the cops, leaving them with little evidence to prove a crime had been committed. It also makes it pretty obvious that Kamal was merely seeking money/attention.
However, according to Eonline.com, authorities will pass the case to the District Attorney’s office on Friday to establish whether charges should be brought against Lohan. Let’s hope that this nonsense just goes away. Lindsay Lohan is working hard to get her life and career back on track, it would be unfortunate if this silly incident got in the way.
The Hollywood Gossip reports the 25-year-old actress was driving her new Porsche when she left the Sayers Club in Hollywood just after midnight early Wednesday morning. As she pulled out of the parking lot, she was blocked by celebrity gossip photographers and bystanders and apparently hit the manager of the nearby Hookah Lounge nightclub.
The former "Mean Girls" star has not been charged with anything yet, as police said their investigation determined no injuries at the scene. Lohan is not being accused of leaving the scene of a crime, either.
In fact, sources told TMZ LiLo may have been the one who called police to protect herself from paparazzi. Cops arrived at the scene and interviewed people inside, including the manager who was lightly struck but didn't appear to suffer any injury.
Officials said the case was closed, but it may be reopened if the person who was struck contacts them later and claims injury.
TMZ now reports the club manager who was hit has gone to the emergency room at an L.A. area hospital. Sources claim he plans to press charges, which would spark a hit-and-run investigation.
If the manager has not have suffered any injury, Lohan may be cleared of any wrongdoing. However, if she's charged with a crime, it could be grounds to violate her probation from the separate shoplifting and drunken driving cases.
This isn't the first time she's had car trouble, either. In January, she was sued twice for incidents behind the wheel. Nubia Del Carmen Preza said she was struck by Lohan's Maserati while walking through a West Hollywood intersection in September 2010, and a paparazzo named Grigor Balyan asked for $25,000 on claims he was hit in January 2010.
A judge told Lohan, who hosted "Saturday Night Live" earlier this month and recently dyed her hair back to the color red, she was behaving and well on her way to finishing her court-ordered community service and psychotherapy sessions. If she's not charged with a hit-and-run, the actress may be off supervised probation by the end of March.
According to the websites TMZ and Radar Online, Lohan was exiting the Sayers Club in Hollywood after midnight last night in a black Porsche. When paparazzi and patrons from the nearby Hookah Lounge reportedly got in the way of her car, Lohan attempted a U-turn, almost swiping the car of the Hookah Lounge's manager. Sources say that the manager exited his car and approached Lohan's vehicle. In the hubbub, sources claim that Lohan grazed the manager's knee while peeling out of the parking lot.According to sources, police quickly arrived on the scene. It's unclear if they were called by Lohan to help her navigate the difficult exit, or if they were responding to reports that the Hookah Lounge manager had been lightly struck by Lohan's car. Police interviewed both witnesses and the manager himself, who did not appear injured, following the incident.
The Los Angeles Police Department told both websites earlier that the incident had been fully investigated and that the case was closed.
However, Radar now reports that the Hookah Lounge manager, whose name has yet to be released, is in the process of filing a police report after getting checked out in an emergency room at a Los Angeles hospital.
A source tells the site, "The manager is claiming that he is having trouble walking, and that Lindsay ran over his foot. The alleged victim is in the process of filing a police report, and there are two uniformed LAPD cops at his bedside, and he is in the process of relaying his version of events."
If the report is true, it could spell big trouble for Lohan, as she is currently on probation following a shoplifting charge last year. Lohan is just weeks away from her next court date on March 29, during which it was expected for judge Stephanie Sautner to revoke her probation.
Lohan, for her part, has taken to Twitter to deny the reports.
"Scrape? This is all a complete lie," she wrote. "Last night, I attempted to wish a friend happy birthday, which I didn't even get to do because I was freaked out by all of the paparazzi. These false accusations are absurd."
In a statement this afternoon, Lohan's spokesman said, "Lindsay stopped by the club to drop in on a friend's birthday party. When she arrived, there were so many photographers there that she decided to leave and never even got out of the car. At no point was there ever any indication that her car hit anyone or anything. We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the next few days."
The incident is reminiscent of a report in 2010 that Lohan tapped a baby carriage with her vehicle. Charges, however, were never filed.
In 2007, Lohan's career first skidded off the rails following two arrests within a span of three months for DUIs, once after Lohan lost control of her car and jumped a curb. A "usable" amount of cocaine was found in her vehicle.
The star has since claimed to have cleaned up her act, recently saying that she is now a "homebody."
