buffalo surgeon body found, A body was found today near the home of a trauma surgeon who is being sought nationwide in connection with the killing of his ex-girlfriend at a Buffalo hospital, WGRZ reports.The TV station, quoting two unidentified sources, says the body is that of Dr. Timothy Jorden, the special-forces-soldier-turned- surgeon who is being sought as a “person of interest” in the shooting at Erie County Medical Center on Wednesday.
In a bizarre twist in the story, police who went to Jorden’s house Thursday were surprised to find an armed, off-duty police officer — and high-school friend of Jorden’s — coming out of the doctor’s home with $5,000 and a Rolex watch, WGRZ-TV reports.
Update at 12:36 p.m. ET:The Buffalo News, quoting law enforcement officials, is also reporting that Jorden’s body was found in a ravine near his home. “We believe it is him,” a source tells The News.
Buffalo plan to give a news conference at 1 p.m. ET to discuss developments in the case, the newspaper reports.
Update at 12:18 p.m. ET: Police say a body has been found in the woods near the home of Dr. Timothy Jorden, 49, who is being sought in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend Wednesday at Erie County Medical Center, the Associated Press and WGRZ report.
WGRZ-TV, quoting unnamed sources, identified the body as that of Jorden, who has been the subject of a nationwide hunt.
WGRZ says the body was found in the woods along 18 Mile Creek behind Jorden’s Lake View home. One of the sources tells WGRZ that the body was wearing hospital scrubs.
In addition, WGRZ reports, a neighbor reported hearing a gunshot in the area Wednesday morning, prompting police to search there over the last view days.
Original post: Officers went to the house looking for Jorden, a former Army special Forces soldier who is considered armed and dangerous, as a “person of interest” in the fatal shooting Wednesday of Jackie Wisniewski, a secretary at Erie County Medical Center.
Jorden, who has since disappeared, withdrew up to $30,000 from his bank account in the days leading up to the shooting, unidentified authorities tell The Buffalo News.
The newspaper also reports that Jorden, who had been clean shaven and heavyset, recently grew a beard and lost about 75 pounds.
“He’s out there somewhere,” Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda says. “We believe he’s still in the United States. To the best of my knowledge, he has not crossed the border.”
