Winehouse own blood portrait

Winehouse own blood portrait

Winehouse own blood portrait, Amy Winehouse self-portrait in own blood to be auctioned, Deceased singer Amy Winehouse left her mark on music with some of the most recognizable songs in a decade (hear her music). She also apparently left her mark on a piece of canvas with her own blood. The resulting self-portrait of which can be yours for an estimated $100,000 when it goes on auction at the Cob Gallery in London Johan Andersson's portrait is set to be placed in Camden Town tube station.

The painting is currently on display in the Lock Tavern in Camden where Amy was a regular and performed on a number of occasions.

It will be going on exhibition at Gallery 118 later this week before it will be turned into a poster and given pride of place at Camden Town Tube Station.

Recent toxicology reports suggest that there were no illegal drugs in the star's blood system when she died and investigations are ongoing.
A self-portrait by Amy Winehouse drawn in her blood is to be auctioned.

The picture features the outline of the late singer's face, with the word "ladylike" next to it, and is expected to fetch between £50,000 and £80,000.

The painting is one of a number being auctioned by singer Pete Doherty -- a close friend of Amy -- alongside examples of his own work, which also feature paintings made with his blood.

Of his friend's portrait he said: "Amy was on the phone to her dad when she did that [painting]. She said, 'Dad, I'm with Pete and he's making me draw with my blood!' He didn't like me much, her dad."

However, Amy's father Mitch has denied she created the painting with her blood.

He tweeted: "Do you believe that Amy painted that picture in her blood? Absolute rubbish."

The auction will take place at the Cob Gallery in London where Pete's work has been on display.

Amy's painting was previously displayed but not part of an earlier sale "due to its personal nature".

Pete has previously told of his upset at Amy's passing from accidental alcohol poisoning in June last year, although he also calls it an inspiring time.

He said: "When Amy died I was sat in a room, a matchbox room in London, not able to leave, basically wallowing in my own filth. Literally knee deep in s**t. Literally not able to move.

"I couldn't speak, I couldn't see anyone, I couldn't pick up the guitar, and when I did pick up the guitar it was to write woeful ballads about how Amy wouldn't be coming around tonight. It was an inspiring time."

Other items Pete is auctioning next week include military jackets, notebooks, and his writing desk.
The piece, entitled Ladylike, was created with her own blood.

It is estimated to raise between £50,000 to £80,000 on Friday at the Cob Gallery in London.

Winehouse died last July of alcohol poisoning.

Also going under the hammer is art work by rocker Pete Doherty – which also include pieces created with his own blood.

A collection of paintings, trinkets, clothes and guitars belonging to the 33-year-old will go on sale at the gallery where the works were recently exhibited as On Blood: A Portrait of the Artist’

Other select items, which are expected to fetch between £50 to £12,000, from the former Libertines frontman’s work and life include his iconic military jackets, notebooks, and his writing desk decorated with traditional French design and with secret panels and drawers. It comes complete with profanities engraved into it.
A self-portrait of Amy Winehouse personally smeared in her own blood will be auctioned off by close friend and Singer Pete Doherty next week.
The auction follows a 10-day exhibition of Doherty's work at the Cob Gallery in London, which also feature paintings made with his blood, where he sold more than 15 of the 20 blood paintings and prints that were displayed, the Huffington Post reported.
Though late Grammy Award winning singer's picture -- said to feature the outline of the late singer's face, with the word ''ladylike'' next to it -- was exhibited at the show, it was not put up for sale because of the "personal nature" of the piece.
It's understandable. Doherty has not kept it secret that Winehouse's passing from accidental alcohol poisoning in July 2011 was tough for him to process. When Amy died I was sat in a matchbox room in Camden Town, not able to leave, basically wallowing in my own filth. Literally knee-deep in sh*t. Literally not able to move," Doherty revealed to NME in April. "I couldn't speak, I couldn't see anyone, I couldn't pick up the guitar and when I did pick up the guitar it was woeful ballads about how Amy wouldn't be coming round tonight," he explained. "It wasn't a very inspiring time."
According to the New Zealand Herald, of his friend's portrait he said: ''Amy was on the phone to her dad when she did that [painting]. She said, 'Dad, I'm with Pete and he's making me draw with my blood!'"
However, Amy's father Mitch isn't going for it. He denies the whole blood letting episode.
He tweeted: ''Do you believe that Amy painted that picture in her blood? Absolute rubbish.''
