The pop star fell sick with a nasty cold this week (beg16Apr12), but she refused to let her ill health halt her concert commitments, and took to the stage at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland to perform for troops as planned.
Perry, 27, dressed in a sailor's uniform for the show and she pulled one gig-goer out of the crowd to join her on stage.

She asked the man, who called himself Officer Beasley, about his age and when he replied, "20", the star teased him: "Is this legal? Well I'm a little bit older than you, but that's alright - I can be your Mrs Robinson."
Perry then warned him about her cold, adding, "Now Beasley, listen.. I have to warn you, if I told you I had a cold, if I told you I flew here with a 101.8 degree temperature, would you still be alright with (kissing me)?"
She then suggested they create the "iconic pose" seen in a famous 1945 photograph of a sailor kissing a girl on V-J Day in New York City's Times Square, before he tipped her backwards and kissed her on the lips to deafening applause from the audience.
Perry subsequently posted a picture of the gig on her Twitter.com page with the caption, "Played for some Navy guys & gals tonight. I think my fever broke on stage from all the sea-men..."

Katy Perry is the latest artist to debut a 3D concert movie in the form of Part of Me in 3D coming July 2012. She began documenting her California Dreams Tour about a year ago (which consisted of 124 performances) for this film, capturing lots of behind the scenes moments in addition to the concert footage filmed at the Staples Center in LA. This film follows in the line of recent 3D concert movies that have been coming out over the past few years thanks to the renewed interest of 3D films in theaters.

Even a regular consumer can pick up a 3D camera for under a couple of grand. So it makes sense financially to film a few concerts from an ongoing tour and distribute it into theaters. Profits are already being made from the tour so the film itself is icing on the cake; on top of that, given the fact that the tour is already funded on its own, the only financial costs to make these concert films stem from the 3D equipment, paying the crew and promotion/marketing.

Katy Perry has delivered a special performance for the troops at the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday.

The 27-year-old pop singer announced to the crowd in Annapolis, Maryland that she would be recreating the iconic 1945 photograph of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square.

The image shows a sailor tip the girl back to kiss her, and Perry selected 20-year-old Officer Beasley to pose with her.

Perry called Beasley to the stage and quipped about his age, adding, "I'm a little bit older than you, but it's OK, I'll be your Mrs. Robinson," referring to the 1967 film "The Graduate."

"Now Beasley, listen," she continued. "I have to warn you, if I told you I had a cold, if I told you I flew here with a 101.8 degree temperature, would you still be alright with [kissing me]?"

Beasley indicated that he was fine with it, and while the audience cheered, the sailor tipped Perry backwards before the two kissed on the lips.
